Some hatch sagging may occur for a variety of reasons (e.g. additional weighted parts mounted to hatch, parking on an uneven surface, outdoor temperatures limiting the strength of the hatch struts, etc). If this is a concern, we strongly recommend NOT purchasing this product.
fits nicely, only complaint is that my hatch now sags about a week after installing, hatch will open all the way then drop half way instantly , still trying to find a hatch shock that will work for me , 2024 Forester wilderness
This is my second ladder. I bought this one after they said it was the new version and wouldn’t make the hatch sag. Unfortunately, it’s exactly the same and makes my hatch fall back down after opening. Today it even tried to reshut itself on me while I was standing under it. It’s a solid piece and it’s well made, but it’s too heavy for the factory hydraulic arms.

Have there been any updates to the product or do you have recommendations to eliminate hatch sag?
Nash Fab has recently released another revision of the upper bracket. The bracket is now made from aluminum, (previous version-2 the ladder was only aluminum and upper bracket was steel) making it significantly lighter. This reduction in weight will help minimize hatch sag.
From our experience, most Subaru hatches do not have issues with sag. However, the Subaru Ascent and Forester have occasionally shown 2–3 inches of sag from peak gate height. Please keep imnind parking on uneven ground can also imapct the lift gate.
